Audiologists are typically schooled to Doctorate levels, especially in the United States since the 1990′s, where it is now required.
Audiologists might work in private practice, or might be associated with a group of Doctors, a hospital, clinic, or even Commercial businesses.
Audiologists typically study the Medical Sciences, including Anatomy, Physiology, Physics, Hearing Sciences, Chemistry, Neuro-muscular system, and other similar topics.
Audiologists must be detail oriented, organized, and methodical. They must also be personable and friendly, since they often must deal directly with patients and clients. In the United States, Audiologists must be certified or licensed in most states.
Some hearing aid companies employ Audiologists to work with their sales force toward establishing professionalism and integrity with regard to promotion of their products.
Some other viable studies for Audiologists might be such topics as Sign Language, which could be helpful with deaf clients. In addition, studies in electronics and hearing prosthetics might enhance an Audiologist’s overall potential for career growth.
